The Burning Godzilla Selvedge is part of our official GodzillaĀ® collaboration, this time inspired by one of the most iconic and volatile versions of the character, Burning Godzilla, from the 1995 film Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (ć“ćøć©VSćć¹ććć¤ć¢).
In that film,Ā GodzillaĀ reaches a critical point. His heart functions like a nuclear reactor, and itās in meltdown mode. His skin glows with radioactive heat, veins of fire running across his body, and his Heat Ray transforms into the devastatingĀ BurningĀ Heat Ray (ćć¼ćć³ć°ē±ē· BÄningu Nessen). Itās one of the most striking designs in the franchise and one of the most emotionally charged endings in kaiju cinema.
The denim reflects that energy.
We used aĀ super-heavy 20oz Japanese rope-dyed indigo selvedge, stiff and rich with texture. The interior weft glows in a deep, saturated orange-red, echoing the internal heat surging throughĀ BurningĀ Godzillaās body. The selvedge ID isĀ metallic red, a nod to the concentrated blast of his final Heat Ray.
The fabric is woven in Japan on vintage shuttle looms and has a dry, structured feel. Itās made for those who like a challenge and those who want to break in a heavyweight pair and watch it evolve.
